Myathebee27 Posted October 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2017 I have a question and I hope I am in the right spot. We are going on Allure of the seas Nov 12. Due to the Hurricanes I understand our ports will all be changed. As far as I can see now.. they will be changed to places we have already been. Does anyone know if Royal Caribbean offers any discount or onboard credit for these changes? I understand that we cannot control Mother Nature but We have 8 state rooms and most defiantly were not planning to visit places we have been before. We have a similar situation but Norwegian's response has been to substitute a Caribbean island (St Thomas) with a the French port of Marseille! Anyone who has ever been there will get what a downgrade this is. No offence to the French. NiCL are not offering any remedy or compensation so some of our party have gone to ABTA for arbitration. Unfortunately I booked through an agent in USA so I don't appear to have any consumer protection - unless someone can advise me otherwise.
Honora56 Posted October 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2017 We have a similar situation but Norwegian's response has been to substitute a Caribbean island (St Thomas) with the French port of Marseille! Anyone who has ever been there will get what a downgrade this is. No offence to the good citizens of Marseille. It also means that, after leaving Funchal, we will be at sea for 10 days straight and then disembarking to fly straight back home to U.K. Not so much a cruise as a passage to America. NiCL are not offering any remedy or compensation so some of our party have gone to ABTA for arbitration. GeraldineMeade Posted December 9, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2017 This information is really useful. We were also about to go for the cruise this season, since there were many updates about the hurricane season we took the precautions for hurricanes. Hurricanes have caused a lot of damage to life and property. We should get more info be prepared for such calamity, upgrade the house and have an emergency plan.
