Gopherpharm Posted October 22, 2017 #26 Share Posted October 22, 2017 It depends what you want to get out of the trip. I tend to like the smaller ships because I don't use all the bells and whistles of the new ones. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
lazyart Posted October 22, 2017 #27 Share Posted October 22, 2017 Being your first cruise, I'd say take the $500. You'll have a great time and will be totally oblivious to what you're missing. Fantasy has the 2.0 upgrades that many other ships in that class do not (I was on Fascination last week, a sister of Fantasy with no upgrades, and the ship felt kind of meh). Breeze is a beautiful ship (my favorite, and we'll be sailing her again next year) and she will spoil you. You'll likely never want to consider Fantasy again once you've been on a bigger ship. We like the Fantasy class ships. They are just as enjoyable as the newer ships (and even better in some ways!).
Quilcruisers Posted October 22, 2017 #29 Share Posted October 22, 2017 I say dream or breeze. You can always go back and do a more budget friendly cruise for a non special occasion. For your honeymoon I would do a newer ship. I do enjoy smaller, older ships, I enjoyed triumph and went on her several times and same with freedom and even conquest back in the day but those were standard vacation cruises, not really for special occasions. We did the breeze and it was nice so that is my vote for your first cruise. I do like some of the layouts and amenities of the older ships too. For example , on the freedom and triumph, I could use the spa restroom, showers and steam room without being in those cabins, the breeze didn't have that option. We just sailed the valor two weeks ago and really enjoyed it, but it was a small quick getaway. Sent from my iPad using Forums
