Hampton Inn plantation

Has anyone stayed here?

We have 2 days before our cruise. We are flying into FL and cruising from Miami. We booked a car with Alamo to pick up at the FL airport and can drop off at the Miami Airport 2 days later and get a shuttle to the port.

We chose this hotel because we have 2 teen girls and there is lots of shopping around (we are from Ontario and like some of the stores we don't have here), fast food (we don't want to spend a fortune before our cruise!) and a pool that looks good in the pictures. It is $125 per night-- best rate we could get for March 24-26.

We know we are a bit out of the way and wondering if we made a good decision or should think about another place.

Any thoughts?

Being that you have a car it's a great location! Perfect for shopping or even exploring the tri-county area. It's centrally located. For shopping don't miss Sawgrass Mills, over 300 stores and name brand outlets http://www.sawgrassmillsmall.com/static/node784.jsp;jsessionid=aWO3fLwqFFAd leave your bags at home and buy all your cruisewear there. :p When you go to Sawgrass have lunch or dinner in Bahama Breeze it will certainly put you in the mood for your cruise http://www.bahamabreeze.com/. Also nearby is the world famous Swap Shop, largest flea market in the South http://www.floridaswapshop.com/. Besides shopping theres plenty of touristy things to do throughout Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County, (Ft Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach). ;)

To get that rate at Hampton Inn I called the hotel directly and asked if there was any discounts. My husband works for the government (in Canada though!) aand they said they have a government rate....They seemed to have various discounts that they can apply. The girl told me they fill up fast (they were totally booked until end of January when I called--a good sign I guess)so book in soon.
