Tours and Guide Info

I have been watching this board and asked a few questions, but thought I'd better find out more information for our September 26, 2006 sailing on the Nautica from Istanbul to Venice. My husband and I have been to Istanbul and done the regular tour sites, so we would like something a little different. Any suggestions? Are we really better off finding private guides? Sounds like most of you don't use or like the tours the ship offers. Also, we've been to Athens and seen the main sites there. We don't want to repeat those sites and, again, would like something different. Sounds like we can wander around on our own in Rhodes, Delos, Mykonos and Santorini, Greece?? Last but not least, any thoughts on Kotor, Yugoslavia?

 

We have only been on one previous cruise, (Grand Princess) six years ago and we land travel extensively in France and Italy, so cruising takes us out of our comfort zone. We really need help from all of you experienced cruisers.
