We are on the coral in Alaska July 24. I think we have 2 formal nights so what I need to know is about the other 5 nights , do we have 2 semi-formal and 3 casual? How formal is semi?

Thanks.

The remaining 5 nights are easy.. The first night you normally wear what you arrive on the ship with. The last night you wear what you plan wearing when you leave the ship. The remaining 3 nights are what I will call upscale casual.. Dress like you were going out to dinner at a nice place.. Myself on these 3 nights I will be wearing slacks, a white shirt and a nice sweater. As for my wife, probably nice slacks and top.. There are no more semi-formal nights on Princess.

We plan just as Largin does and feel quite appropriately dressed.

Princess calls it "Smart/Casual" and defines it as "An open-neck shirt and slacks for gentlemen(sport jacket optional, and adress, skirt and open blouse or pants outfit for ladies"

Happy Cruising

Macy Jean,

It's true! Princess stopped it's semi-formal nights a few years ago. The last time we had a semi-formal was our May 2001 cruise on the Ocean. By the time we went to Hawaii in Dec of that year on the Crown the dress was listed as either formal or smart casual. It does make my packing easier. icon_wink.gif
