My husband and I are going on our first cruise July 10th on the caribbean princess. We are wondering is there a sail away party and if so where is it at, and what does it consist of? Like I said we have never cruised so we have no idea what to expect, but we are very excited

Hi there,

Just a couple of suggestions...

a sailaway party is what you make it really. Firstly, there are large numbers of people up on the decks when each ship sails away, the music is playing, there are drinks available at the bars etc, you could have a great time, just going from place to place yourself... OR..have a private party on your balcony if you have one, invite a couple of CC friends along....OR do as we did, join a roll call group on the Princess roll call page..and have a get together with the people on your roll call at one of the many bars or public areas on the ship...plan for a certain time to meet, you can all order a drink..(or many) !!...you could bring some snacks from the buffett or order some dips etc from room service ...(nibbly bits and pieces).... some people make name tags etc for their groups, a good idea, but the whole

idea is just to have a good time, make new friends and enjoy yourself...not hard on those ships... : icon_cool.gif )

Maybe others here could add some other ideas ???

We strongly recommend joining a group for your cruise, you will have a BALL !!!!... icon_biggrin.gif

Regards to you all,

Hello leiloni,

We were on the Grand Princess last August and the sailaway party was great. The cruise director had his entire staff on the pool deck singing & dancing and getting the passengers to dance. After a few drinks there were many people involved! The band was playing and everyone had a great time! The Grand had the best sailaway party of all the other cruises we have been on. This was our first Princess cruise. Enjoy!

Bring some bubbles. You know the kind used at weedings. Some people are bring this now and it is fun watching them blowing bubles over the side. You can not toss streamers anymore dueto enviromental concerns (do not want to hurt the fishes or pollute the water).
