Bahia Mar or HI Express 17th Street

Bahia Mar is an older hotel across the street from the beach. There isn't a whole lot to walk to, but it's on the Water Taxi route so it's quite easy to get to SE 17th Street or the many many shops and restaurants on Las Olas Blvd.

Holiday Inn Express on SE 17th Street is a newer budget hotel in a great location with dozens of restaurants, shops, grocery, drug & liquor stores as well as the Water Taxi all within safe, easy walking distance.

Strictly comparing rooms Holiday Inn Express' rooms are a bit nicer.

I'd go with HIX, you said one night pre-cruise, that's the most conveniant location for shops, restaurants etc. If you were doing a couple of nights then the Bahia Mar for its location so close to the ocean. ;)

Just got back from Fll and we stayed pre and post cruise at the Bahia Marr and loved it. Robert the bell captain got us everything we needed including cabs and storing our luggage. We had 6 people so we used various rooms, all clean. We used the water taxie also and there were lots of good resturants and places to walk to including the beach. And, you can watch the cruise ships come in from the walkover or the beach. We would stay here again. There is a 7-11 just down the street where you can pick up things for the cruise. We also went to Las olas 2 times,by land taxie and water taxie. Good places to eat there also.
