USS Arizona, is it possible to see day 1?

As Suebee wrote, it is well worth going to Pearl Harbor even if you don't get to the memorial. There is a lot to do and see there besides the memorial. Plus, just standing on the shore and seeing the memorial and all that surrounds it gives me chicken skin.

The idea to possibly go to the Missouri is a good one........

If it works out you cannot do either the Arizona or the Missouri, there is still the submarine USS Bowfin. That is possible to see in less than an hour.

 

Touring the Missouri, probably easier to do than the Arizona because of crowds and lines, will take longer. As mentioned, you cannot drive to it. There is a bus near the Bowfin memorial that takes you over. Plus, being so large, there is a lot to see.

 

We did the Missouri on our own (rental car) after disembarking the Dawn, but spent most of the day to see it, with a late (after 6pm) flight out. :)

Having worked on the overhaul of the USS Wisconsin, that is a great photo of the massive fire power these battleship had. In this photo it looks like the Mighty Mo is still guarding the memorial and the USS Arizona, I wonder if this part of Homeland security.
