MamaMicki Posted December 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2005 Hello all, We have the car reserved and are really excited about going to Rum Point. The only thing I was wondering is Do they have a place for small kids to play? I just want to make sure it is kid friendly. Please let me know. Thanks for your time.Take Care! kendallison Posted December 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2005 We were there last week with our 6 and 9 year old. It depends what you mean by a place to play. If they will be happy playing in the sand at the water's edge then they will be fine. The water is very calm and clear there. There is shade, food, and restrooms available. It's beautiful. MamaMicki Posted December 13, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted December 13, 2005 Hello, Thanks for the reply. Can you see fish in the water? We have a 2 and 4 year old. Do they have a place to shower off? The 2 year old will be happy just about anywhere outside, but if he could see some fish that would be great. Thanks for your time. Take Care! kendallison Posted December 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2005 I think there were showers in the restrooms. We were only there 2 hours because it was part of our Rays, Reef and Rum Point tour. I don't remember seeing any fish... if there were any they were small or further out. My daughter did complain about there being rocks or shells in the water that hurt her feet when she walked so water shoes might be a good idea if you have them. Linda8818 Posted December 14, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 14, 2005 Definitely bring water shoes for the kids. You have to walk for several feet over rocks and broken shells before you get to the finer sand in the water. There might be more fish over by the dock you see in the picture. MamaMicki Posted December 14, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted December 14, 2005 I have 2 pairs of water shoes for each child. I learned that several cruises ago. Everyone must have atleast 1 pair. :D Take Care! Do you guys think it would be a nice trip for 2 small kids or should we go to 7 mile beach? suebee53 Posted December 14, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2005 I would definitely choose Rum Point over 7MB with kids. For the shade if nothing else. BTW, there's a motherlode of information on the Cayman Activity Guide message boards. (Can't post the URL here, but you can Google it very easily.) BiggerBob Posted December 21, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 21, 2005 We were at Rum Point Dec 5th. We had no problem walking in the water without water shoes, however we were to the far left of the pier. My son and I walked out a little ways and we did see fish and a small stingray in the water! Ellya Posted December 21, 2005 #10 Share Posted December 21, 2005 The water is shallower for a longer way at Rum Point. It gets deep pretty quickly at 7 Mile Beach. I would choose Rum Point if that works out for you in other respects. You can see some fish from the dock.
