SusieO Posted November 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2017 We are sailing on Regatta roundtrip Seattle in late August 2018. Would it be a huge rush to get a taxi to the airport and make a flight that departs at 10:50 a.m. on our return home? Thanks!
warburg Posted November 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2017 We are sailing on Regatta roundtrip Seattle in late August 2018. Would it be a huge rush to get a taxi to the airport and make a flight that departs at 10:50 a.m. on our return home? Thanks! Greetings from South Beach, SusieO. You will need to know when you are likely to depart the ship. Then, add in the other elements. Include that today's security issues, airport line are often slow, unless you are a Trusted Traveler, or upper class. If it looks like you may miss boarding, change your flight. It isn't worth the hassle, if that does happen. We sailed the November/Miami TA in Mariner's maiden year. Our arrival in Miami was her first visit there, and we left the ship around 11:00am. We were home, but there were many passengers facing missed flights. Not a good situation. Unexpected issues can occur on any ship. Personally, we book afternoon flights. Classiccruiser777 Posted November 25, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2017 We live in Seattle and from where the ship docks, pier 66, to SeaTac airport is about a half hour drive under the best conditions (approx. 22 miles). Seattle traffic is bad, especially in the downtown, which is where the Regatta will be. If you can walk off with all your luggage as soon as possible and have a cab waiting that would be prudent. If you can't then I suggest taking a later flight.
Jammu2 Posted November 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2017 What day? A Saturday or Sunday might be possible. Weekdays, tough. I live in the area as well. For us the problem is the unpredictability. You plan for an hour and it takes three. Happens a lot. azam71209 Posted November 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Keep in mind that the ship and every passenger will need to clear customs and you have no control over that process. Very easy in our case in Seattle but at the time there was talk of very long lines at security at the airport. Didn't happen. Traffic was also light so we got there very early and hung out in the business class lounge. Much easier than having a nail biter at the end of a great trip. Rare Caroldoll Posted November 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 27, 2017 I absolutely would not chance it. Traffic there is a bear.
halfapair Posted November 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 27, 2017 I live near Seattle and wouldn’t advise trying to make that flight. Can you take a later flight or travel the next day?
