Volunteer work on St. Thomas by passengers of cruiseships?

We would like to volunteer our services for the day, when we go to St. Thomas on a Princess Cruise next week. We have enjoyed St. Thomas and St. Johns for our vacations in the past and would like to give back. Does anyone know if or where or who I would contact to see if we can volunteer to help with clean up while in port and if we can pack additional suitcase filled with whatever they may need?

The National Park on St John always needs volunteers to help clear the trails. Royal Caribbean used to offer the opportunity as a voluntourism excursion for $50 with proceeds going to the park. Magens Bay Authority on St Thomas may need volunteers to help with clean up and planting, though they don't have a formal program set up to recruit volunteers.

As far as supplies, solar lights, radios, and D batteries are always useful. Work gloves for men and women. Pampers for infants and adults. No clothes. No toiletries.
