catsy57 Posted December 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2017 I'll be going on the POA on 12/16, so I thought I'd check the webcam to get a feel of what I'll be seeing. The webcam shows it currently on the west side of Maui, when it should be at Hilo today. If you look at this webpage https://www.livecruiseshiptracker.com/2017/09/30/pride-america-cruise-ship-tracker-app-vessel-tracker-name-live-cruise-ship-positions/ it looks like the POA has traveled around the eastern side of Maui, heading north around the western side, and has now turned around. Does anyone know what the issue might be - weather, mechanical, a problem at the port in Hilo? Here are some other websites showing the ship's location, and the current destination as Kona, not Hilo. https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-157.0/centery:20.4/zoom:9 http://www.***********/cruise-ship-tracker/norwegian-cruise-line/pride-of-america.php
Mich49505 Posted December 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2017 From the POA Facebook page, “gale force winds kept the POA from Helo today”

Suedonym3 Posted December 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2017 I was on POA last week. Before we left Maui, the Captain came on and announced due to expected wind and anticipated swells that could be up to 30 ft, he did not feel it was safe to dock at Hilo, so we had an unexpected sea day. I spent the day at the spa but heard from others we stayed close to Maui. Our tour operator at Kona actually lives in Hilo and agreed it was crazy weather that day. Also said it was very rare for POA to miss a port. I googled like crazy and could not find a prior instance.
