Going on the Jewel in Jan.

1. Can we charge casino chips to the room?(how much/day?)

Is there a fee to do so?

2. Can we charge gratuities?

1. Yes....no limit.

 

2. Yes....though the staff prefers cash because they don't receive the $ from auto tips for two weeks.

We were on the Jewel in Oct and were told $200 a day.

The limit for charging chips in the casino is higher than that. I think it was $2000 per day on our recent Infinity cruise. It may not be that high on other ships, but it's certainly more than $200.

Just came back from the 12/3 sailing of the Jewel - sensational trip. Sad, however, about the woman that disappeared. The limit for cash is quite high; don't know exactly. Enjoy your cruise, Karen

When we were on Mariner last year, my husband was at the blackjack table with a man who was told (quietly and defferentially) that he had reached the $1200 that he was allowed to charge to his room for chips THAT DAY, so it would appear that at the time the maximum was $1200 per day. To add to it, the guy was playing "last day of the cruise" desperation blackjack - doubling down on two, etc.

 

I wonder if he had to come back the next week and wash dishes to cover his bill :-)
