What is the port at Limon like

Is this a tender port? and are there any beaches nearby that you can walk to? We are booked with a tour with Oscar but one of our group would like to just go to the beach.

Limon is an industrial/commercial port. We were on a tour, but did not see anything very attractive in the immediate port area. I am not sure if there is a beach that is close.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country. Please advise your friend to get out and see some of it. A cruise on the Tortugero Canals is just outstanding.
