cheezz Posted January 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2018 We've been to these ports a number of times and the tours never vary. Does anyone have a favorite "off the touristy track" tour? Our favorite last time was a walking tour of the taco stands, one-on-one with our guide. Would like to see more than the shopping strip and local church at each port, and no boats or snorkeling. Thanks all!:)

cheezz Posted January 5, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 5, 2018 Thanks much, ladies! We have done most of what you suggest, but have not been to San Sebastián or El Pittillal. How safe and reliable are the guides at the dock?

Would like to see more than the shopping strip and local church at each port, and no boats or snorkeling. Thanks all!:) we have taken the bus to Bucerias, a small town up the coast about 30-40 mins. Very easy to catch the bus in front of Walmart and wave a bus down on the street to come back. Bucerias is a cute beach town which is away from the cruise crowds, with many restaurants on the beach and as long as you purchase something you get a lounge chair and umbrella free. Makes for a very relaxing beach day.
Ine Posted January 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Thanks much, ladies! We have done most of what you suggest, but have not been to San Sebastián or El Pittillal. How safe and reliable are the guides at the dock? Guides are fine, certified and english speaking. For Pittillal you hardly need a guide, just a cab(driver). It is a 10 minute drive from the dock, still a mexican village. Just walk around, visit the church, shop, have a drink or meal etc. San Sebastian is in the mountains, great drive. Since it is in a higher elevations it will be cooler there (so bring a sweater just in case). Famous for its coffeebeans. Nice small museum re the old mining days etc. Also a small prison, can be visited when unoccupied.
