Hello Everyone. If there's anyone who's done this cruise in the last three months or so......would you please share any MSC Excursions you took? We're booking one independently, but would like to hear some feedback from past travelers please. Also, we have two small children 6 & 8yrs old, and would love to hear about what to do in Barcelona. We have not booked anything there yet. thank you-

Hi

We only did the one MSC excursion - Rome on your own which was basically only a coach transfer from the port to Rome and then we wandered around on our own. It suited us perfectly as we knew where we wanted to visit. It was organised really well and was very convenient.

Regarding Barcelona, our kids are older (teens now) so we visited Sagrada Familia, wandered round the gothic quarter, shopped and ate tapas :).

But we did visit Barcelona before many years ago when our children were probably only about 4 and 5 years old. I remember we did the HOHO which was a great way to see the main sights and get a feel for the city, visited the Nou Camp, went to the Miro museum (one was doing Miro project at school at the time :)) and also visited Poble Espanyol (an outdoor museum with different Spanish architecture and demonstrations of old crafts eg glass blowing)

Look at Barcelona Day Tours if you haven't been before- we did a half day tour with them. They will take you to the main sights such as the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. You won't have time to go in the Sagrada though, so if you want to do that you are better off touring on your own. They also tell you a lot about the local history, culture, politics and of course about Gaudi. They also took us up to the Olympic park and Museum area which has wonderful views, although again you don't have time to go in. You did get around 2hrs free time at Park Guell which to me is a can't-miss. For a first timer it's a great overview.
