In Cuba during a National Holiday

Has anyone been in Havana during a national holiday?

We are there for two days and the first day is their Labor Day, May 1st.

This is the only info I can find on it:

May 1 is the traditional socialist worker’s holiday. In Havana, Cubans gather at the Plaza de la Revolución to hear patriotic speeches. Throughout the country you can see military parades and other demonstrations of Cuban patriotism.

I am wondering if museums and other attractions will be closed that day. We were hoping to catch a show that evening.

Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I would like to know this also. After reading your post, I looked at our cruise. We will be in Havana for two days and both are national holidays for the revolution and rebellion. July 25, 26, and 27, 2018. Has anyone been there during these national holidays?

@ Seamingo and @nednrom, I did more reading and I think it was on TripAdvisor (forum) that I got more details of what takes place for Labor Day. I have made arrangements to have a private guide both days and was told the areas where we will go will be ok. I need to follow up because there are other things we want to do and I don't know if museums will be open.

If nothing else, I will be there before both of you so I can ask about the holidays in July and October. I'm fluent in Spanish, so I will not have any trouble with the details.

That would be great. Thank you so much. It would be nice to know if museums and shops are open. Also Fusterlandia. I have searched online but can’t seem to find information except schools, offices and businesses are closed.
