Taxi to Salt Flats and flamingos?

We are visiting Bonaire the first week of February 2018. We are booked with Woodwind tours in the afternoon, but wanted to see the salt flats and flamingos. Any recommendations?

If you want to see the South in the morning you can either book a tour or go with a taxi. If you want to take the Southern tour with a tour operator I'd check with Bonaire Vista Tours. They have small buses and it's a more personalized experience. If they're full the best larger operators are Achie Tours or Bonaire Tours - either of those are very good. When you check with any of these make sure you let them know you only want to do the South. If you go with a taxi you will pay less and the tour depends entirely on what driver you get - some are fantastic (ask for Ronald).

If you take a taxi to see the salt flats and flamingos and then asked to be dropped off at Sorobon Beach, how long would the salt flats/flamingo tour take and how much time would that leave for Sorobon Beach? Also, what would the approximate cost be?

If you took a taxi South to see salt, slave huts, and flamingos - that'll take about an 1.5 hours. You can always ask your taxi driver to take you to Sorobon and wait for you. The standard cost for a South tour via taxi is $40 per person. I'm sure you could work something out with them to stay longer at Sorobon.

Are taxis available for the return trip from Sorobon if the driver just drops you off?

Yes - you can definitely get a taxi back from Sorobon. They go back and forth from port all day long.
