sjh422 Posted January 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2018 The US state department has declared that the state of Colima in Mexico is a level 4 - Do Not Travel -danger level. The port of Manzanilla is located in Colima. Can anyone comment on how a cruise line reacts to this, the highest level of danger for travelers. Will they still include that port in their itinerary? Will they warn the cruise passengers and let them decide? Any dangerous port such as this will definitely be a day to stay on the ship for us. suewheldon Posted January 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2018 One would presume they would revise their itinerary as safety for passengers and crew are utmost, the same as most cruise lines did in 2016 with Istanbul. Alaskan_Kate Posted January 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2018 My Panama Canal cruise was supposed to stop in Acapulco, but they changed the itinerary due to the situation there.
Starlight Durban Cruising Posted January 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2018 My Panama Canal cruise was supposed to stop in Acapulco, but they changed the itinerary due to the situation there. Is this for an upcoming cruise (soon) or a past cruise. What change did the cruise line make? We are doing Panama canal cruise in Jan 2019, so would be interested to hear more about your experience with this.

We are doing Panama canal cruise in Jan 2019, so would be interested to hear more about your experience with this. This is for October 2018. We were sent an email about 2 weeks ago telling us about the change. To be honest, NCL did a terrible job telling us what was going on. The original email was sent out and no one at NCL call center seemed to know what was going on. We have until tomorrow to essentially rebook and we were given two options. Rebook to the new cruise that leaves a day later and has 1 less port and changes the port of departure or book on any future cruise. Both options gave like $25 in on board credit. A second email was sent out last week giving us the new itinerary.

Did they effectively cancel that particular sailing, or did they just change the timing of departure of the cruise. Ours in Jan 2019 still shows Acapulco on the schedule. SouthLyonCruiser Posted January 22, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I don't know if this is still true but when my sister in law and brother in law did an all inclusive in Mexico they were told to stay in the resort area. But, they went into town when the cruise ships were in and there seemed to be a cop on every corner. As soon as the ships left there wasn't a cop to be found.
