Lambo62 Posted January 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Let's take a break from seaside questions ;-), We have a cruise booked for September from Southampton. I have two questions. 1) Just starting to look at flights, and one of the airlines that has a good deal flys to Gatwick. We are spending a few days in London pre-cruise, is travel to London from Gatwick just as easy to do as from Heathrow? What about the return from Southampton? 2) Return flight on said airline departs at 12 noon. Is there enough time to get off the ship and get to Gatwick by 10 am? Thank you in advance

Thank you in advance It is definitely as easy to get from LGW to London as it is from LHR. There is a railway station in the airport, in fact it had one before LHR. It might be also easier to get to LGW from Southampton than LHR, but that needs some research first.

Thank you in advance Take a look at this web site https://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/gatwick_southampton.htm What time can you disembark? There are direct trains from Southampton railroad station to Gatwick airport Monday to Saturday. There are also busses.
Lambo62 Posted January 28, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Thank you, so what time are we able to depart the ship?
TravelinGert Posted January 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Depending on your timing and how much you want to spend it is also possible to book a bus tour which stops along the way usually at Stonehenge and sometimes also another location on your way down to Southampton or back to Gatewick. Some of these are not much more expensive than the direct bus.

stlouistravelers Posted January 29, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2018 I found that if I booked out of JFK my tickets were cheaper even with the flight from St Louis added in. We also are spending a few days prior to the cruise and then going to Ireland after that. My TA booked private travel from my hotel to the ship at a good rate.
