buckeyeintx Posted February 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2018 (edited) We have Costa Maya, Cozumel and Roatan as our 3 ports of call on our RC sailing in May. We would like to do a resort day, a snorkeling excursion and a historic or ruins excursion. Which is the best port for a resort day, the best port for a snorkeling excursion and the best port for a ruins excursion? Open to specific excursion, resort and ruins recommendations as well. I should mention that it is just my husband and I so I would prefer a resort that wasn't specifically family/kid focused. Thanks, Betsy Edited February 2, 2018 by buckeyeintx
CoralReef Posted February 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2018 Having been to all these locations, I can say: Cozumel is the only one with ruins nearby. Also has good snorkeling. Roatan West Bay snorkeling is one of the best off-beach snorkels I have ever experienced. There are tons of fish and massive coral formations in just 5 feet of water! Costa Maya has no great snorkeling (too rough and deep), but you may be able take a day trip to some ruins.

Thanks, Betsy Having done all three several times I'd go with: Cozumel - do Tulum ruins Roatan - snorkeling. West Bay right from shore is amazing. Costa Maya - if you're wanting a quiet day on the beach with few people go with Almaplena.
