CarleneBarrett Posted February 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2018 We will be in Juneau on Independance day from a cruise on the Noordam. Being Australian, we have no idea what happens on this day. Can anyone give us a clue please?
wolfie11 Posted February 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2018 As far as tourist activities go, there's a big parade in the downtown area, but it doesn't go into the cruise ship enclave (the 10 or so blocks around the docks full of tourist stores). Other activities take place at local venues, mostly over on Douglas Island to include a soapbox derby, food, and bands. There are also a lot of activities on the 3rd of July, including the fireworks on the evening of the 3rd. Most of the cruise ships with evening departures stick around for the fireworks. It's quite something to watch from the ship!
CarleneBarrett Posted February 12, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Thanks for that info. It's a shame that on the 3rd we will be leaving Ketchican at 3pm. Do they celebrate in anyway onboard cruises?
