MBTampa Posted December 28, 2009 #26 Share Posted December 28, 2009 My wife and I did the 5 day from Miami to Cancun and Cozumel on our honeymoon in August of 1986. We later moved to Tampa Bay, and were amused that the Britanis was in port here for repair or to be sold. Sad to hear she sank. We've since sailed on Carnival with our children, and are doing the short 2 day to the Bahamas on Monarch of the Seas next week.
aloha of the seas Posted December 28, 2009 #27 Share Posted December 28, 2009 My first cruise was on the Amerikanis and I always referred to it as a small cruise ship and cruise line that was eventually taken over by a major cruise line. After all this info I sure feel better about selecting that cruise; though it won't change the problems we encountered on the cruise. Good Sailing, Murf
ColumbusCruiser Posted January 30, 2015 #28 Share Posted January 30, 2015 I worked on the Amerikanis as DJ in the Disco from 1989-1990. Great itinerary, San Juan, St. Thomas, Guadeloupe, Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, and St. Maarten! Miss those days and the great people!
cruznjan Posted February 28, 2015 #29 Share Posted February 28, 2015 We cruised on the Amerikanis in 1982. The cabin's bathroom was bigger than the one in our house! I played the small electronic organ for the interdenominational worship service; the bench was missing and some of the keys didn't work. It was a great cruise.
