Russian Visa

Have any of you gotten the Russian Visa on your own or do you really need to go through the outfit the ship recommends? I got my India visa on my own with no trouble at all and saved half the price.

Got ours directly thru the Russian Embassy-been a while but it may have been in Chicago. Yes, saved a big bunch. We have never used a 'courier service' and we have never had any problems. Always quick and efficient.

It's been a few years since we needed them but we got them through a company called Unisel Network in New York City (we're in Ohio). Their number is 800-531-2060. There was a fee but it wasn't outrageous. I think I got their number from the Russian Embassy's website. I called them because they had a toll-free number. If you look on the Embassy website you'll probably find lots more listed now.
