Parking in Ft. Lauderdale?

We're cruising for about the 8th time, but first on Princess. We live in FL, so we usually drive to the port and park for about $12/day near terminal. Just wondering if it's less expensive to pay for parking at a nearby hotel and take their shuttle to terminal? Anybody try that and if so, where? Or, any other ideas on less expensive parking? We're taking an 11 day trip this time, so parking starts to add up. Thanks!

Karen, I too live in Florida, but still go to Ft Lauderdale the day before our cruise, as a safety precaution. You never know when an accident on the turnpike or Interstate will hold you up for HOURS !! We usually stay at Amerisuites, which offers free parking for the duration of your cruise with at least a one night stay previous to the cruise. It's basically getting the room free, since it would cost at least that much to park at the terminal. Especially if you get the room thru priceline, I've gotten it for as little as $50.

Karen, yes, they do have a shuttle. We took that last time, wasn't bad, but can get a little crowded. The time before, we took a taxi, cost about $8 if I remember correctly. It all depends on if you want to wait for the shuttle to come, and take the cheaper way, or take the easy way and pay a few bucks !

Our cruise is leaving on Feb. 25th and we have reserved a spot through Park and Fly (http://www.pnf.com) for our car. It is supposed to be just as secure as parking at the port, and more so that at the airport; it's gated and has security cameras, though from what I've been told parking at the port is inside and this is outside. It is also supposedly much cheaper. We are being charged $90 for 14 days.
