restaurant reservations on the Dawn

The answer varies by the number of people in your party.

Generally, you don't need reservations for the main restaurants nor the buffet. But if you have a large number in your party who wish to dine together, more than what can sit at one large table, NCL will appreciate you setting up reservations at the main restaurants. Even then, they will reserve an early time or later time for your party to dine. They usually wouldn't reserve the peak dinning time for large parties at the main restaurants.

If you sat back and thought about it awhile, this policy makes sense.

If you have read the long waiting time reviews carefully, a majority of them, not all, consists of dinners with large parties. Almost all reviews with four or less in their dinner party sit within a few minutes upon arriving at the main restaurants. Eventually, any restaurant becomes full, and there will be some waiting for other dinners to finish and open up a table. But it doesn't take half an hour for a table to open.

Yes, you should make reservations for all the speciality restaurants no matter what the size of your party is, because they have far fewer seats than the main restaurants.

We like to eat early too and were always around the first few people in the restaurants for dinner. We never waited more than a couple minutes...people did not even start to line up more than a couple minutes before open.

But, we did have some issues with trying to get reservations at the specialty restaurants. I would advise that you seriously consider setting reservations immediately. We decided mid-cruise to try one and the bets we could do was 9pm...much later than we like. It was OK but we got hungry beforehand and ended up at a regular dining room and then eating again later that night. Messed up seeing the show too.
