Any opinions on El Palacio, Fort Lauderdale?

Evening all!

We were supposed to drive to FLL from Ontario, leaving January 27, but have changed our minds and have decided to fly instead, arriving 11pm on Friday, January 27th.

That being said, we need a hotel to stay in for January 27th & 28th, checking out January 29th for our Carnival cruise. Have been looking at El Palacio for 4 adults, one room (I'm groaning already, don't worry) with 2 double beds, for $99/US, works out to be about $116/CDN plus applicable tax (?). It's the cheapest we could find, wanted to make sure it's clean, close enough to the port, etc. etc. etc. Had wanted the Ramada Inn Airport/Cruiseport, but it's booked solid.

We'll be booking a rental car for the Saturday, any word on a rental car company that will provide a shuttle to the pier on Sunday as well without breaking an arm or leg? There will only be 1 driver, and he's well over the age of 25. ;)

Thanks so much for any help you can provide, and happy travels!

Thanks-this convinced us to book somewhere else, which is difficult since there's some type of convention going on in FLL that weekend, lol.

We ended up with La Quinta in Plantation, FL, and there was nothing but positive reviews on expedia's website. ;) Besides a rude employee, couldn't find anything negative on Trip Advisor for this one that I can't deal with. ;)

Yikes, I missed that the first time! Yes, you're VERY lucky that dump is booked. It's a nasty place in a nasty neighborhood, that's NOT clean, NOT close to the port, airport, or anything else except some things you DON'T WANT to be "near"!!!
