jiminyC_fan Posted March 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Could someone please verify whether or not Viking provides a shuttle in Stockholm? This came up in another thread. Thank you!
stretchcruz Posted March 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Our cruise ended in Stockholm. We overnighted there on the ship. The first day there was a shuttle. Our cruise was berthed next to a lot of construction and a ferry terminal. We tried to take the shuttle back to the ship from the downtown area and there were so many people we couldn't get on and they told us another half hour before the next shuttle. We asked how long to walk they said 10 minutes. So we decided to walk. They were very very wrong. We had to go in and out of construction zones, across streets, up and down stairs, next to the ferry...it was well over half an hour to walk back. It was also not very clearly marked as to where we were going because of the construction barriers. We were not happy...we were hot and tired after spending the day in Stockholm. It would have been ok if they had been honest. Maybe they didn't know. The ship was docked alongside a very narrow street. You had to walk down the street and then through the gate. No real pier or area per se. We told the cruise staff when we got back (there were probably 10 of us that walked). They apologized but it wasn't their fault, it was the fault of the person at the shuttle. We got the impression that they had heard our story many times before. jiminyC_fan Posted March 31, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted March 31, 2018 Interesting. I have a feeling we were at the same dock. We walked the construction zone as well. For us, it was more than a 10 minute walk from Gamla Stan. I swear there was not a shuttle offered and that is why we walked but now I am wondering if there really was one and that could have saved my poor back and feet, LOL. Our cruise originated in Stockholm in May of last year.
stretchcruz Posted March 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2018 If it was 10 minutes we would have been fine. Maybe we were just tired but it was not good for us. I don't think I'm THAT old....but maybe I was having a bad back day.

It is right other at the bridge for the Slaussen transportation hub as you cross on to Sodormolm, the island that the port is located on. So I'm sure ship had heard about it in the past but they really can't do anything about city construction. When we crossed it was the day we left port and we stayed in Gamla Stan after the included excursion.
