naplesam Posted January 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2006 I have been doing research here trying to determine which mini-suite balconies on the Island/Coral are covered, uncovered or even maybe some that are partially covered. Specifically, are the balconies on Baja 218-231 covered or partially covered? I have read many threads and there seems to be conflicting information on these. I also have seen the famous (or should it be INFAMOUS) chart showing which rooms have which type of balcony. I also see threads saying the chart has errors. The pictures I have seen are not conclusive. LARGIN: an old post from you indicated that you would be staying in B229 so you should know. Well???? bdjam Posted January 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2006 Largin will know for sure, but my impression when I was on Island Princess was that all the Baja balconies – with exception of the ones at the corners of the outboard sections – were fully covered. Bobby Jones Posted January 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2006 All of the balconies on the Baja deck are covered, including those on the bumpouts. I used to have a great photo of the Island Princess that showed all the balconies on the starboard side - but it seems to have disappeared. Redsgj Posted January 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2006 Here are a few pics of the Coral (first 3) and the Island. From what I can see, some are totally covered and some are totally uncovered. You will have to study the deck plans to figure out which are which! http://community.webshots.com/photo/344175452/344175452ugzgHT http://community.webshots.com/photo/129903399/129903399rFeEhs http://community.webshots.com/photo/504635578/504635578abJliS http://community.webshots.com/photo/94895271/94895271RuYVXA
LARGIN Posted January 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2006 I had to cancel that cruise because of an emergency, but what I can remember B206 - B218 are uncovered... The rest are either covered or partially covered..
Another Cruise Posted January 2, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 2, 2006 We were towards back of ship so can't say for sure, but if I can get this picture to post, count the balconies to find rooms you are asking about. I think it looks like most of them are uncovered.

I think it looks like most of them are uncovered. I don’t think that correct. I sailed on Island Princess and was in a Caribe balcony cabin and above us the entire bank of Baja balcony cabins – from outboard section to outboard section - were fully covered. funforsun Posted January 2, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 2, 2006 Yes, but 229 should be covered. On Baja, the front cabins are uncovered. If you look at the picture posted above by Another Cruise, the aloha deck cabins end and the baja deck continues underneath. If you count from the end of the aloha deck cabin, beginning with the first cabin, 229 will be the third one inside the aloha overhang, and therefore your cabin will be completely covered. Hope I'm correct. I'll be on this ship Friday in C211.
naplesam Posted January 5, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted January 5, 2006 Thanks for the info, especially the pictures! Looks like some of the minis on Island/Coral Baja deck forward are uncovered and others fully covered and NONE are partially covered as listed on the infamous chart.
