Safest Transportation To Margaritaville in Montego Bay - Carnival June 2018

We have heard so many unsettling things about Jamaica and specifically MoBay. Wondering how to best get people from the port to Margaritaville and back. We’ve got several that are unable to walk distances. Are taxis safe? I’m guessing the port has some kind of secures area where vetted vehicles are allowed to pull through? Hate to just stay on the ship. Was planning on doing that but somebody said Carnaval regularly closes the pools when in port… can anyone confirm or deny? Why do ships keep docking in these areas if they are so crime-ridden?

They have a hop on hop off bus now that takes you shopping areas, Doctors Caves beach and Margaritaville. We plan to use this in September. You can pay at t he port with your sail and sign card. I hear they have several buses that run a loop and are about 15 minutes apart.
