Does anyone have any further details yet of the just over 2 week refit of QE2 after the 2006 World Cruise?

I would not have thought they could do much in this short time?

Kind Regards,

Quite a lot can be accomplished in two weeks... In fact most refits except for very major ones do not take more than a few weeks. Many ships only go into drydock for five days or so every two years.

I am not sure what is being planned - I will ask this week when I am on board.

Whatever Cunard are planning, I hope they finish the refit as scheduled. I am booked on the first cruise after the refit. Apparently they have been doing redecoration work while QE2 is on cruises. I dont think I would like that if it was my cruise when they were doing the work. Many public areas did seem to have been refreshed when I was on my last cruise. Paint looked bright and carpets seemed new.

I did think redecoration was needed in the cabins. I saw cabins on Signal Deck (my cabin) and Two Deck (visited). The paintwork was marked, furniture seemed battered and some fittings did not work. Nothing too bad, but QE2 cabins will definitely need work soon. I dont think two weeks is long enough to do much to all those cabins though.

Of course they will be doing work on the hull and other certification matters.

Best wishes, Stephen.
