Miracle Dec 25-Jan 1

My wife and I just returned from the 12/25-01/01 Miracle cruise. This was our first cruise and we went with a total of 21 family members, ranging in age from 3 to 83. We were in cabin 7292. The rest of the family were in nearby cabins.

Some good tips from Cruise Critic that I found very helpful:

1. Bungee cord for the door to the balcony

2. Clock (battery powered)

3. Power strip

4. Two-way radio to keep in touch with those who came with you

5. Have your S&S card punched and put on a cord in the casino as soon as you board. We had family members (who did not have do this) having trouble keeping track of their cards.

6. Non-Carnival excursions are less expensive....but since the schedule of ports of call seem to change often there is some difficulty in pre-scheduling.

Embarkment in Tampa went very well. We used the valet parking since it was only $10.00 more than self-park and very convenient.

Our first evening (Christmas Day) was very rough due to high winds. A number of members of our group became sick. Cabin steward told us that it was the worst night of sailing he had experienced in his fours years on board. The other days were very smooth.

Be prepared for many options. There is something to do for everyone. The meals were good in the dining room. Lido deck always provided many food options. The dining room deserts were the best.

Three out of four ports used tendering. Costa Maya had a pier. Tendering was by priority---those with Carnival excursions were tendered first. There was some delay for those who did not have a schduled Carnival excursion.

The crew was great. They were always friendly and willing to accompandate any request.

Word of caution to parents: it was not difficult for teens to attain alcohol on board or in port.

Our first time experience was great. We definitely plan to cruise again.

I'll be glad to respond to any questions.
