Looking at staying in an airbnb in Barcelona. Also, hotel recommendations

Hello,

Considering cruising out of Barcelona and looking for a safe, good area to stay in the middle of things to do. Shopping, restaurants and nightlife. In the Las ramblas or Placa Catalunya areas.

Just starting to research the area. I know we will want to go to Sangrada Familia and Parc Guell. Will probably take a taxi to those areas.

We will stay in a hotel the 1 night pre cruise and then stay 2 days post cruise in a airbnb? Looking for recommendations for the both. Not sure if I want to stay near Las Ramblas or the cruiseport for the 1 night before the cruise.

We recently stayed at Arago312 in the Eixample area, and very happy with our choice. The hotel is very centrally located with many shops, restaurants, and markets nearby, about 15 minutes leisure walk to Sagrada Familia and 25 minutes walk to La Ramblas and La Boqueria. The apartments were very clean, good soundproof (we had the penthouse apartments on 8th floor with huge balconies and great view). You can google for more information about this apartment and find the room of your need. We booked directly with the hotel and got vouchers for a free breakfast.

Just scroll down a bit in this sub-forum. There is a recent thread labelled Barcelona Hotel Recommendation? which will offer you many suggestions. Additionally just search this forum using similar key words and you'll find other past threads on the topic. Barcelona very easy to get around via public transportation and cabs and not very expensive. The few hotels I've seen that are really in or adjacent to the port area are very expensive probably because of their waterfront properties. Away will always be cheaper. City center never more than 15-20 minutes away from the port. Perhaps others can help with airbnb recommendations but so will their own website reviews and even search this forum again.
