Royal Caribbean Fights Back!

Looks like the daily zine given to each stateroom with what's happening & where each day. They probably weere piled up on the small table to the right of his electronics & someone bumped it spilling it. The receipts are all over the desk, in the safe, around the safe, just stuff that wasn't needed, so why look for a trashcan?

Then #1 photo had me laughing with shoes outside the closet. They never opened it? The sportcoat right arm in the drawer. Booze that isn't opened with the cowboy hat on it & they didn't pack it for them either.

Here is what I found interesting from the show;

Stated by JS;

Jennifer says that they had been drinking socially—not enough to cause a blackout. "People are going to slam me either way," she says, "If I say, 'Oh, maybe I was drinking too much,' I'll get slammed—I'm the drunk bride. If I say, 'Well, maybe I was drugged,' they'll say, 'Oh, she's just making excuses for herself.'"

What about reports the couple had a nasty argument? Some witnesses say they heard George swearing at his wife and saw Jennifer knee him in the groin. Jennifer, who has no memory of their time at the bar, says she cannot deny or confirm the alleged fight. "If that is the last encounter that I had with my husband … then that is something I will have to carry for the rest of my life," she says, her eyes filling with tears. "I can't remember anything from a certain time period. We just aren't angry people. George would never call me names. And I would never do something like that out of anger to George."

**************************************************

And then one of Oprah's guest, the "new witnesses";

They were just so lovely and kind and nice," Jaci says. "[They] seemed so in love." Jaci says she spent time with Jennifer and George at the casino that night around 2:30 a.m., right before the newlyweds left for the bar and Jennifer's memories of that evening lapse. Jaci says the two "absolutely" did not appear to be drunk. "They say I'm FBI," she says. "I smell everything—I have teenagers. I didn't [sense they had been drinking] at all. In fact, her words were perfect, her conversation. … [George] did not seem at all intoxicated, as far as I was concerned."

"What do I think [happened]?" Jaci says. "It couldn't have been an accident. I've been on 28 cruises. Never one time [has anyone just gone] over."

******************

Yeah, they[the new witnesses] just lost all credibility with me....

Not enough to cause a blackout, but she can't remember anything...uhhh, wouldn't that be a "blackout"??

My sympathy for the Smiths eroded when they decided to wage a dishonest "discussion" with the public. For example, they complained that RCCL never contacted them "in months", but did not disclose that their daughter ( a lawyer) had instructed them not to call on the second day. People with genuine greivances have no need to distort or shape the truth because their story if truthful will stand powerfully on its own. JHS gave a similarly edited and shaped story before Congress...stating she was forced to wear logo clothing , humiliated, left alone in Turkey with no resources. Apparently, truth and fairness have little to do with clever media manipulation or legal representation these days. And if you can create enough sympathy, it trumps personal responsibility.

Isn't it perjury to lie to congress? I think I might write my congress people.

All the talk show hosts (sounds like including Oprah) are not asking the hard, facts only, questions we want answers to:

- did you leave the casino with another man - where did you go

- why were you in a hallway at that time of the morning, far away from your own room

- what did you do after RCI "staff" put you to bed - did you fall asleep, did you get up, did you go to the bathroom, did you again look for George

- what did you drink - were you drunk - how can you explain not being able to recall events, yet claim at the same time not being drunk

- did you take drugs - other forms of alcohol not served by RCI?

- why did you show up early to the spa? did you look for George then? why were you wearing the same clothing?

UGH!!!! WHY DON'T THEY ASK THESE QUESTIONS (AND MORE!!!!)

You hit the nail right on the head. Unless the FBI told her not to answer those...:rolleyes:

"O" would never get DW on the show if DW thought hard ball questions were going to be asked. Even if they were she would fall back and blame the FBI for not allowing her to answer.

"O" reminds me of a younger/smarter Larry King. Larry freely admits to doing little or no homework to prepare. If an author is coming on, he doesn't even pick the book up...says being uninformed helps him ask better questions.

Ohhh.. that touched a sore note with me.

Larry King was a worthless boring brown-noser when he was only on radio who could always could get the class A celebrities because he didn't ask hard questions, and he hasn't got any better on TV.

Oprah is a entertainer, but she is in an entirely different class than him. (being that she has class and he has none)

Sorry, but I loathe the man, and didn't like the comparison.

That wasn't an interview - it was a weepy, hand-holding, let's everybody hug schmoozfest - another touchy feely - doesn't work for me. She is covering her ass bigtime - not to say she did anything to George, but she sure as heck was not the vision of loveliness she purports to be at 4:30 in the morning, sleeping in a hallway on her honeymoon and no knowledge of her husband's whereabouts (again!)

My first thought is the O only did this story because of her friend Gayle King. O really did not have much to say compared to how she normally runs her show.

Jennifer seemed more interested in just getting acknowledgement that RCI didn't do enough for her, ie: making her comfortable, getting her home, etc.

RCI acknowledged some mistakes in the way she was treated. It does seems that RCI followed all the rules of the Turkish government.

Was enough evidence gathered? Has the FBI received any of the evidence from the Turkish officals to run more tests? Has this evidence been turned over to this Dr. Lee? What about the last group that was with George? How much have they been interviewed and who interviewed them? Those were the questions I kept waiting for O to ask.

The new witnesses offered nothing in the way of information. They seemed to be there more to give Jennifer credibility. The whole show seemed to be about Jennifer wanting credibility.

I'm sure they probably were just a young couple having a good time and there's nothing wrong in that. Something went terribly wrong, George is missing and presumed dead. I don't know that anyone will ever get an answer as to what happened.

I believe in eye contact when I want someone to clearly understand what I'm saying. I did not see that with Jennifer in her one on one interview with Gayle.

I don't think any more is known now than before the show. IMO, George was just an afterthought in this show.

Yeah, if you go to Oprah.com you can see the transcript. I don't think its the whole thing but a good amount. Does anyone know if there is a way to see the video of the whole Oprah show today? I'll be working and will not be able to tape either.

Very nicely put Hazen. I wonder if anything will happen to JHS for lying to Congress?

At 230 am she may have not been fallen down drunk but they had not left the disco yet. They left at 330am so they may have not finished their last drinks yet. If not remember things that happened that night isn't that a blackout.

Reporters are not going to ask those questions to Jennifer or the Smith family, they do not want to come across as being mean or the family will say that now the media is attacking them.

I found one of JHS's examples of "callous treatment" by RC to be laughable. She said upon arriving home, she got a bill from RC for George's room. Doesn't she know that the cabin is already paid in full before you even get on the ship?

Maybe she is talking about their sea pass account bill, which should be paid for. They both drank and ran it up, so why shouldn't they have to pay for it?

I don't believe a thing she says. If she can lie to Congress in her statement, then she should be mistrusted in all her statements!! JMHO

She said she was promised two security people to get off the ship with her. She did have two officers who did get off with her when they where in the terminal. When they went to the Turkish police station she had one. It was not like they left her alone. She felt like Royal Caribbean was attacking her, so maybe she should not had lied about being mistreated. Adam Goldstein said they did the best under the circumstance. It is not like it happens all the time and there is a correct way to deal with it.

Her relationship with George side is strained, she says because of the fact she can not talk about it bcause the FBI says so. Maybe it has something with the fact of the way her and George where acting on the ship.

I agree with the poster who said that she did not look people in the eye when talking.

Not taking either side here, but let's face it folks, if George were a family member or even a friend etc., of someone from RCI do you really think that room, balcony, entire ship would have operated on the same protocol? I doubt it. That ship would have been held up indefintely. Yes I am a RCCL guest (over 10 cruises with them) but I do have to say I'm skeptical about the so called thorough evidence investigation.
