Super Bowl Sunday

A very popular question at this time of year!! When we were on the 02/02/02 Infinity sailing, they had the forward observation lounge and the Cinema/Conf Room set up for the Super Bowl. We watched the Super Bowl in the forward observation lounge (Constellation Lounge) and they were showing it on a couple of TVs including a large screen TV; they also served food there. I noticed that the casino bar TVs were showing the game but you could not tune into the game from your stateroom TV.

We had a different experience than mahdnc. The game was televised, on Spanish ESPN, in our cabins, while we were on the Summit. They also had a TV set up, and a party going on, in the main dance lounge and the tv's in the casino bar showed the game.

We'll be boarding the Infinity on Feb. 5, the same day as the Super Bowl. Does anybody know if Celebrity offers anything special for the game? Do they televise it in a special lounge...offer snacks?

They'll show the game in one of the large lounges on multiple screens and serve great food. Go early for a good seat, they fill up fast.

They'll also televise the game on the TV in your room. Grab some food and watch in your room if the lounge thing doesn't work out for you. Watching in the lounge, with other fans, is a lot of fun though.

Gosh, I wish that on our sailing, that the game had been available in our stateroom. Sometimes I get too riled up over the course of the game to watch it with other folks!

hahahahhaa...you are very clever. If I had to pick a team I'd go with the Steelers too.

Paul, do you have any idea which lounges when you say "one of the large lounges"? We'll be on the Infinity.

Sorry, no. We've been on the Summit, but never on the Infinity. I seem to remember they showed the Super Bowl in the large lounge at the front of the ship. Don't worry, the daily patter will have all the details.

Paul, we'll be on the Infinity, which I believe is the sister ship of Summit.

I won't have time to check the "Patters." The Super Bowl is the day we board. I want to be sure we find a great place to watch the game.

A few years ago, on Princess, they showed the game in only one lounge, and it got so crowded so fast, there wasn't a chance of actually seeing the game. We decided to go back to our cabin to watch it, but it was in Spanish.

I wish the game was a week later...we'll be on the Carnival Liberty the week after the Infinity, and they have one of those great big outdoor screens by the pool.

The games we've seen on ships weren't in spanish. The commercials were in spanish. Another time there weren't any commercials at all, during commercial breaks we'd either see a static shot of the stadium, the cameras panning around the stadium, or the TV crew rewinding and analyzing a play so they could comment on it when the commercial was over.

After you board make a quick call to guest relations and ask which lounge will be showing the game. If you're like us you'll be walking around the ship checking everything out, I bet you'll see the crew making preparations for the game and then you'll be able to grab a seat.

Watching the game in the lounge is more fun than in your room, I hope it works out for you. If you do decide to watch in your room you'll still be able to bring in plates of munchies and other stuff from the buffet area.

We were on Zenith a couple years ago and there was a Super Bowl party set up in one of the lounges. Unfortunately we had rough seas and very bad weather. The satellite could not pick up the game and everyone was too sick to enjoy the snacks. Had to read about it the next day.

Good Luck

We were coming north along the Mexican coast when Tampa won their Super Bowl.

The vessel had the Super Bowl Game on at the Sports Bar and on the TV in your cabin.

What made it different for us was that each quarter we had a different network announcing the game. Thus we had four teams of announcers broadcasting the game that we viewed. It was interesting how some viewed the game differently from the previous netwok announcers. However all advertisements were from Mexico in Spanish featuring Mexican products.

We were on Constellation for the Super Bowl in 2004 and they a large screen set up in the Reflecions Lounge (Ironically it is called the Constellation Lounge on Infinity for the OP and others on to know). The sat feed was pretty good...in spanish at first then it came in as an english feed. They had hot dogs and other snack food set up for those that did not go to dinner that night. Just one note...only Millennium has the Extreme Sports Bar that someone posted about...the rest of the M class ships do not.

I state it this way because we were on the 12/24/05 sailing on the Century. I had called ahead of time to find out if they would be broadcasting the Skins game (Go Skins!) and they told me yes. Alas, no Skins game - I am still hearing it from my family. Soooo.....what we did....(besides from all of us wearing our Skins jerseys onto the ship) was we had one person at the game calling us with updates and another watching it on tv calling with updates. Then whoever was on the phone would announce it to everyone else. We had lots of random people stopping by to get the score (a great way to meet new people). The game finished during the muster drill and we were still getting updates during the muster drill. So, really, I dont know what to tell you.

If you are boarding that day...I doubt they will have it on and if they do there will not likely be any extra's happening. Just as DancerOT says above. Just to much for staff already I would think.

At sea is a different matter and I saw the game in the Constellation Lounge on the Infinity....party time snacks and other things all round.
