b1-b5 cabins on qm2

Wow, I am in shock! I have booked a trip on QM2 in April in this so called "deluxe in hull" balcony cabin.

The balcony is not a proper balcony at all! It's just a large unglazed picture window with a murky area in between it and the cabin. You would get more light from and ordinary outside cabin!

But no fresh air or the sound of the sea.

The balcony is open - the only glass is the sliding glass door that separates the cabin from the balcony. I had one of these hull balcony cabins for 1/29/05 caribbean cruise and it suited me. Deck chairs are pretty much worthless as you can't see over the hull when seated in them, but it is fun to be able to go out on the balcony early in the morning to have a look at the port, passengers on the ship across the pier admiring the QM2 and check out the weather. Or lean over and check out what is being loaded or unloaded.

You will definitely be able to hear the sound of the sea when on the balcony. No worries there.
