luv2go1 Posted August 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2018 Hello cruisers! We are sailing out of NOLA in April and I am looking for a hotel to stay at a night or two pre-cruise. Here is the thing, I have an elevator phobia and am looking for a hotel that I could use the stairs at (without climbing more than 3/4 flights). This is our first time in New Orleans so we would like to do a little sightseeing. Any recommendations?
Langoustine Posted August 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2018 (edited) Try the Cornstalk Hotel on Royal Street, or the Andrew Jackson. There are a number of 2 to 3 story places in the French Quarter and the Garden District that fit your need. dolphnlvr6 Posted August 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2018 Try French Market Inn or Place D'Armes. Request a ground floor room.
HCTiger9704 Posted September 25, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2018 Every year, I stay at the Best West Western St. Charles Inn ( 3636 St Charles Ave) in Uptown New Orleans for the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Parade. In front of the hotel is the St. Charles streetcar line which provides convenient access to the French Quarter. The hotel is only three stories tall. I march in the parade. I have no problem go up the stairs after the parade when I am sore and tired (the parade is a long walk). You might also want to check out Hampton Inn New Orleans St. Charles Ave./Garden District ( 3626 St. Charles Ave). I never stayed there before so I do not know how the stairs are but it does not look like a tall hotel.
Gallivanting Souls Posted October 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2018 Maybe you could call any hotel you are interested in and ask for a ground floor? that way you wouldn't be limiting yourself.
