sfarrell Posted September 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Does anyone have suggestions with hotels? On the front end we were thinking of staying in Old San Juan or near the port for Carnival (port 4). On the back end we have a full day and fly out the next day and we thought it’d be nice to have a beach hotel. Any help or thoughts?
rainy812 Posted September 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2018 We have reserved Sheraton Old Town San Juan pre cruise and Embassy Suites near the airport post cruise.
CoralReef Posted September 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2018 So far, our favorites are Decanter Hotel in OSJ and Marriott Stellaris for a great beach hotel. You don’t mention a price range — neither is a budget pick — but both are super nice and good value for the price.

Yes we are looking at that Sheraton pre-cruise; I'll look at that Embassy Suites for the back end-thanks!

I did read a review from someone and they suggested the Decanter and I'm probably between that and the Sheraton Old Town. I looked at the MA Stellaris Casino hotel tonight, and apparently the Marriott owned AC Hotel Condado is next to the Stellaris so you are allowed to use the facilities at the Stellaris. I'm looking into this more as it's cheaper....not trying to be budget as we definitely want a nice beach one around $200 if we can. Thanks for your input! LibbyLang Posted September 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 18, 2018 we stay at a small hotel right in the heart of OSJ. no bells or whistles but very safe and walkable. after you drop off your luggage to the ship take the FREE trolley up to the fort. it picks you up by the sheratin

Desert Cruizers Posted September 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2018 I am looking into possibly spending one night after the cruise so I can catch an early flight out back to Calif but not sure I want to spend the extra $$'s. Will talk it over with the daughter. Anyone know what the earliest flight one could take right after the cruise. I have seen around 10 or 10:30 AM but would need to do self walk off. Desert Cruizers Posted January 3, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 3, 2019 After looking over the hotels, locations and what we will need, I am seriously considering the Decanter for our March 1 2020 cruises. Right now are plans are to come in 1 day pre cruise possibly early AM like 6 AM, do some sight seeing then possibly a little more the morning we will board the ship. Since we are doing a b2b, we will have more time to explore between our cruises. The only downside to our plans is the fact our return flights back to COL & Calif are limited. I can take a noon or 1 PM flight to Calif getting home around 10 PM but daughter would end up getting home around 2 AM after landing in Denver. Alternative flight is on United at 2:06 AM, getting daughter home around 8:30 AM and myself 11:25 AM into Palm Springs, Ca.
