scsagh Posted January 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2006 Looking for some suggestions. We will be arriving into FLL about 11:00 p.m. on Mar. 25 with 2 adults and 2 kids. We cruise out of the Port of Miami the next day. Would you suggest staying in Ft. Lauderdale and then get transportation to Port of Miami the next day or trying to get to Miami that night? Thinking with the kids that might not be a good option! What would be suggested methods of transport? Is it better if doing something other than renting a car to be picked up at the hotel, or get back to the airport and go from there. Thanks for any help any of you can suggest! TrentS Posted January 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2006 Renting a car is usually the cheapest way to go, but arriving that late I would probably just get a Tri-County/Airport Express shuttle or Larry's Limo to go from FLL to a downtown Miami hotel. It's about a 35-40 minute drive from FLL to downtown Miami. Then sleep in the next morning, and it's just a very quick inexpensive cab ride from the downtown hotels to the Port of Miami. scsagh Posted January 11, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted January 11, 2006 Thanks for the suggestions Trent. If my husband nixes the idea of getting to Miami that night (planes sometimes delayed and tired people), what would plan B be in FLL?
TrentS Posted January 11, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2006 These are all nice/decent hotels less than 10 minutes from FLL surrounded by dozens of restaurants, shops, grocery, drug & liquor stores. scsagh Posted January 11, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted January 11, 2006 Thanks once again, Trent. I made a reservation for now at the AmeriSuites through the ValueTrips as I noticed many of the listed hotels were already booked up for March 25. If we change plans in the next couple of months, we can still cancel without a penalty. Any idea what we should expect a fair cab price to be from the airport to AmeriSuites? Think the hotels' free shuttle may have stopped already for the night.
TrentS Posted January 11, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2006 If I remember correctly AmeriSuites shuttles stop at either 10 or 11pm... A taxi should cost somewhere between $10-15 from FLL, it's a little less than a 10 minute drive.
