Boarding QM2 At Southampton for Transatlantic - what time?

We are planning to do the transatlantic crossing from Southampton to New York and are looking at different ways of getting to the dock. Does anyone know what time boarding starts - I think the ship sails at 6.00pm, but perhaps someone could advise is tht isn't the case.

Thanks.

QM2 seems to board earlier than QE2. We got to the dock around 12.30 and were on board in plenty of time to have a leasurely lunch in the Kings Court. So if you can manage to get there early I would say do it. Makes a great start to the crossing to have time to unpack, have lunch and a lie out in the sun before boat drill, which was at 4pm. Sailing is around 5, but can vary.

David.
