Do you remember what you did in Colombo.

I have heard trafic can make it difficult to go too far from the city. We will be there for about 8 hours.

There are areas you can go to outside of the city in that time frame. The Pinnawala elephant orphanage near Kandy was one of our highlights , also Galle is not far on the highway. Raveen will take you around and show you major sites. We also went to The Ministry of Crab for dinner but you must book ahead, open for lunch as well. Barefoot shop is great for shopping and the Old Dutch Hospital is worth a look and that is where the restaurant is.  The Galle Face Hotel is worth a visit as on the waterfront.
