rosegrower Posted January 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2006 What is there to purchase for souvenirs in Belize? Is this where you buy cashew wine? Anyone ever see any nativities carved out of their native woods?
jpcruiser Posted January 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2006 Rosegrower: You can purchase souvenirs at the terminal where you are brought by tenders. I believe I did see Cashew wine there. I did not see any nativity scenes out of wood. I will say that if you are considering a tour, you probably could purchase cheaper outside of the terminal than at the terminal. I went to the Altun Ha ruins and there were people with their wood wares there. You may be able to ask a local where else you could shop for what you are looking for. I would not ask someone who has a shop or booth though. Have fun! Joanne - jpcruiser
rosegrower Posted January 15, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted January 15, 2006 Thanks JPCruiser! We are doing the Airboat Adventure and Belize City tour but I do not think there is any shopping involved.
Chalker Guy Posted January 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2006 If you venture just outside the back gates of the tourist village, there is about a 2 block are with shops with native crafts, woodcarvings, woven goods, etc. Do this in the morning if you can, while waiting for your excursion. I think they were closed when we returned from our excursion about 3:30.
