German Wunderkind Posted June 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2004 Hi folks I’ve got a question for all former Summit cruisers on the 11 night western Caribbean itinerary. On the itinerary there is this stop in Colon, Panama. Is there a transit of Gatun Locks involved in this cruise as well? We went through the complete canal in 2003 and are looking for a partial transit this time. If the Summit does not enter the Gatun Lake which are our opportunities to see the canal and its locks on this sailing? Thanks for your help Greetings from the home of Radiance, Horizon and Century Class Past Sailings 04/2000 Voyager of the Seas 11/2000 Explorer of the Seas (inaugural season) 11/2001 Summit Eastern Carib. hardingk Posted June 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2004 We are sailing on the Brillance in January doing the partial canal sailing. I know that we going through the Gatun Locks and then turn around and go back out. Friends of ours did the summit last December and they did not go thorugh the locks. They did take a shore excursion that was a boat ride through the canal. ___________________________ RCL~Legend 5/2004, Navigator 8/2003, Majesty 7/2003, Radiance 4/2003, Monarch 8/2002, Nordic Empress 8/2001 Celebrity~Century 7/2001 & 7/1998, Horizon 7/1991 Future Cruises: Enchantment of the Seas 8/30/2004 Brilliance of the Seas 1/14/2005 Mercury 4/7/2006 Till Belize on the Enchantment of the Seas! Marie Stevens Posted June 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2004 We did the Summit that went to Panama but did not do the partial. We are booked on the Galaxy April 25 of next year, leaving from Galeston and doing the partial. It is a 12 night trip. Spender Nui Posted June 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 13, 2004 There is no partial transit on this cruise. A good way to see the canal and Miraflores Locks up close is to take the ocean to ocean train tour. We were at the locks for about 45 minutes. German Wunderkind Posted June 14, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Thanks I think we’ll have to take the Brilliance then for the partial transit.
