Fairfield Inn Miami airport

We stayed at this hotel back in November of 2004 prior to a cruise. It was "ok". It wasn't like the Fairfield's in our area but it served it's purpose. It was clean and in safe location, IMO. It is next to a major highway and there was some road construction while we were there, so there was alittle extra noise.

We did use the pool and it was small but nice. Also, the breakfast was good. Homemade waffles and all. I think it will fine fine for your pre-cruise stay.

Enjoy!

Shan :)

We stayed at the Fairfield Airport South and if you like highway noise and planes flying overhead till around 11:00 pm you'll like it. We have stayed at many hotels near airports and I must say this was the noisiest. The hotel itself was okay and the breakfast was nice. We took a taxi from the hotel to the pier and I believe it was under $20 for 4 of us.

Geema is right on on the Fairfield Inn... It's right next to a freeway, and in the direct flight path of one of the runways. The hotel is no prize either IMO.

The nicest/quietest MIA airport hotels are in the "Blue Lagoon" area. Try these, you'll be much happier...

We're staying at the Farifield Dorval West. Apparently it was totally renovated in 2005. I was worried about some of the posts from the past since they indicated it was a wreck. I was a little annoyed since I called Fairfield's main office when I booked and they told me it was the closest to the pier. It's not but they do offer a transfer of $12.00 per room to the pier. The rate is great and as long as its clean. For one night we'll deal with it.

The Doral west one does have a better review on Tripadvisor. At this point I am keeping it as an option.

Are you able to book the shuttle when you make your reservation? Or do you have to wait til you get there (we are arriving early evening into Miami airport and when this happened in fll we were unable to get on the next day's shuttles as they were already all booked!).

You put your name on the list for the shuttle when you check in. I'd suggest taking a taxi. ( Less stress and usually around the same price. ) They told us that the shuttle charge is $12 per person, so I'd check into that before you decide to take the shuttle.

TrentS was right about the Fairfield South - it wasn't a real prize. Hopefully the one on Doral is a bit nicer and quieter. Friends of our stayed at the Hampton Inn TrentS mentioned and were very happy.

Thanks for the info - I have since booked the Hampton Inn Airport/Blue lagoon - excellent reviews on tripadvisor and not a bad price. Also good location for some last minute items and dinner, and free shuttle from airport. We will cab it to the port the following morning!

We were booked at the Motel (because that's what it really is) pre-cruise last year. We walked in - looked at the room ( which also smelled rancid) and promptly checked back out and walked next door to the Marriott Courtyard.

I would never recommend the Fairfield to anyone.
