DC Traveler244 Posted January 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2019 We’re booked on an upcoming 21-day Buenos Aires to Manaus cruise, and I noticed something odd about our embarkation and disembarkation: though we embark in BA on the afternoon of Sunday, March 17, the ship doesn’t sail until 6:00 PM the following day. And the same is true for the disembarkation in Manaus: the ship arrives early on the morning of Saturday, April 6, but disembarkation isn't scheduled until the following morning. Does anyone know why Seabourn does this? Thanks!
DUHCAR Posted January 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2019 Overnight in a port is used by Seabourn to: 1) offer extended overnight excursions 2) allow extra time for loading provisions and fuel 3) crew changes
DC Traveler244 Posted January 20, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted January 20, 2019 Thanks, DUHCAR. Since Quest will arrive in BA after its last Antarctic cruise of the season, and will depart Manaus for a repositioning cruise to Europe, I think 2 & 3 are the most probable reasons. DC Traveler244 Posted January 20, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted January 20, 2019 A follow-up to my previous post: I just checked the shore excursions offered in Manaus and there is an overnight jungle excursion offered in there. So, DUHCAR's reason #1 is a factor at that port.
BasandSyb Posted January 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2019 All true. The Manaus trip is usually a 3 day stop before heading back out of the Amazon. Also, the BA stop can be a difficult one, depending on the mood of the Argentinian government and whether the ship has managed a stop at the Falklands. They have delayed departures previously so a bit of wriggle room is useful - aside from many guests wanting to fly up to Iguazu Falls.
