nicsdad Posted January 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Can someone tell me the most efficient ferry to take? The Red Hook or the Char. Am. Thanks!
beverland Posted January 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2006 There is all kinds of information on particular ports in the specific port of call. Good luck.
Sheffie Posted January 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2006 You can check out the ferry schedules at http://www.*****. The one from downtown takes longer and runs less often than the one at Red Hook.
lexxfield Posted January 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2006 I've done both. Six of one, half a dozen of another. The only thing that reallys separates them is the schedule. If you like a longer ferry ride, then take the Charlotte Amalie. If you like a longer taxi ride, take the Red Hook.
cruzetime Posted January 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2006 This time instead of messing with the taxi, we're going to take the ferry from the pier. Just less stress!
firstcruise05 Posted January 19, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2006 We went to Red Hook because the ferry is on an hourly schedule to St. John. The Charlotte Amalie ferry only had a couple of times listed so I felt that we had more opportunity to be on our own schedule if we took the Red Hook Ferry. We went to Trunk Bay for swimming/snorkeling/sunbathing and then took the ferry/taxi back to the ship...took showers to get the sand/salt off and then went shopping. If you decide to do that just make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to get back to the ship, we got stuck in some monster traffic jam on the way back to the ship from shopping. I wouldn't have cared about a longer ferry ride vs. longer taxi ride but I did care that there were only one or two times that the ferry left to come back to the Charlotte Amalie port.
