greatdanemom Posted January 20, 2006 #26 Share Posted January 20, 2006 Just because you may not be stopped and searched does not make it right to flout this rule, which is for the protection of the ecosystems of the ports. (There are usually signs telling you not to.)...Part of responsible travel is to respect the laws and customs of the various places you visit. The old saying "Take only photographs, leave only footprints" seems to apply here. OK end of sermon! An excellent post! I'm right with you one this one Travelgrrl. These laws and regulations are in place for a reason and we need to respect them. Cheryl
Grumm Posted January 20, 2006 #27 Share Posted January 20, 2006 You're visiting new places and cultures, why be so cheap as to not try the foods and restaurants while you're there, it's part of the whole travel/vacation experience:confused: Amen to that. Try to remember that the precarious local economies rely on your custom. In return you will receive friendly welcomes and some cultural interchange. Otherwise, why not take some sandwiches to the back lawn?? I don't mean to be in any way critical, but cut the locals some slack and you will have a great time!
