No more FREE playing cards... any other former freebies cut out??

On our Glory cruise last month we went to the Pursers desk to request a deck of playing cards. They informed us that they had run out of those, and would not be getting any more in - but that I could go to the Casino and BUY a used deck for either $1 or $2... WOW those were FREE in the past too... With what I GIVE the Casino, you would think they would be happy to give me a deck of the cards I helped wear out...hmmmmmmm

 

any other observations? (I just want to make sure they continue to cut costs so that my Carnival stock goes UP...LOL) Perhaps they could start doing some 5-7 day cruises to nowhere... and just stay docked... that would save alot on fuel too - and the ship would not even rock due to high seas! icon_biggrin.gif

Well, Tom, seems you're just plumb outta luck - no playing cards and no Currents! icon_biggrin.gif Hey, I bet if you asked the casino manager very nicely, he'd give you a deck of cards. I did, and he was glad to oblige.

We had the same experience on the Elation last week - cards no longer available. We were also told to go the casino.

 

Other signs of cost-cutting: "appetizers" at the past guest party were nothing more than a few small slices of cheese and fruit on a plate.

CanTex, I never found the PG party to be like that. My last three have been SO nice, with a really good variety of hot and cold hors d'oeuvres.

On the Glory last month, the PG party was so-so.. the items that they wanted you to have were already set between the seats on little trays 3 to 5 small (generally nasty tasting "things")...

 

One thing to note: the drinks they bring around are not your only choice.. we requested (as we have before) both Grey Goose and Crown Royal w/coke.. it took a few minutes, but PRESTO !!!

 

This too will change... drink up for now!

We went on the Miracle last month my DM went to the pursers desk and got free playing cards. DH went back later to get DD a set to play w/ and they had run out. The past guest party was very nice w/ yummy hors d'oeuvres and drinks. Although this was our fist pg party, so I don't have any to compare it to.

I just came off the Legend and of course asked for my deck of cards at the pursers desk. I got the same response that I could purchase some from the casino. So let me get this straight, I can have as many servings of prime rib, lobster, desserts, etc that I want but I have to pay for a deck of cards. Waaaahhh!

yep Tony, isn't that silly!!! They told me on the Celebration 2 weeks ago to go to the casino where I could BUY a deck. But I can order double entrees every evening, order room service multiple times a day,....etc. Well I showed them~~I took the unused and unopened razors from the bathroom with me when we left!!! icon_biggrin.gif
