kevingastreich Posted April 27, 2019 #26 Share Posted April 27, 2019 On 3/15/2019 at 2:43 PM, I like vacation said: If you are on the Viking Passage from Copenhagen to NYC (August 2020) we will be on the same cruise. We were on the Zuiderdam in a Signature Suite in October and loved the extra space. Here are the pics of our cabin: http://halfacts.com/vista-class/6061-zuiderdam/ However, given the price point difference, we have chosen a VA cabin for next years cruise. The roughly $4k difference will go towards the shore excursions. The Zuiderdam is wonderful ship. We did this cruise in 2018, possibly in the very same cabin. It was great and I do recommend it. BTW, I wrote an extensive review of the cruise and it is posted. Have fun!
Nang Posted April 27, 2019 #27 Share Posted April 27, 2019 We have booked the August 2020 Voyage of the Vikings and now our daughter and family want to do the prior Baltic leg (so it looks like we will be extending). Their budget dictates an Ocean View and they are looking at the Main Deck level 1. Available cabins are forward under Billboard Onboard, midship under BB Kings and aft under the Dining Room. I will advise her to avoid midship while I expect being under the MDR would be OK but I am not sure about being under Billboard OB. What goes on in the Billboard OB that might create noise? Thanks for any advice you can offer (an all locations). Also, is the Z likely to get the Rock Room at its upcoming refurb? I am pleased to read the Dutch Cafe and New York Pizza are coming - we enjoyed them on the Koningsdam last year.

The cabin options are ... 1. Under the casino - should not be too noisy??? 2. Under Billboard Onboard - noise may well be an issue from the pianos 3. Under the Gallery Bar - should be OK 4. Under Lincoln Stage Centre - should be OK if no Rock Room 5. Under MDR - should be OK? Any thoughts?

Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted April 28, 2019 #32 Share Posted April 28, 2019 I sailed on Zuiderdam twice, but the last time was 3 years ago, so what I saw is not up to date. The first time, I was a bit shocked by the bright colors, but then as I sailed on two of the other vistas, I became fascinated by the carpets in the hallways and some public areas. The wavy design with the overlay of narrow stripes. These carpets are all over these ships (or they were), but the color palette varies. I started walking around the ships taking pictures of as many color variations as I could find. Clearly a CAD design--get the basic pattern, and then "plug in" whatever set of colors you want. Shades of pink and orange, shades of blue and green, shades of yellow and gray, etc. I'm on Zuiderdam next winter, so it will be interesting to see how she looks after the next drydock.
