Embarkation procedure STAR departing Venice

We will be on the STAR late October departing Venice. While we have cruised in the past, we haven't for several years so I know the embarkation process has changed. I have read a few reports that allude to GROUP 2 or 4, etc. Keeping in mind that we have no status with NCL and our cabin is a 'regular' outside cabin. (Nothing special about it!) How are the boarding group numbers assigned? Is it like United, by status first, then perhaps by cabin location? Or ...??

I do recall years ago when on another cruise line, to check in at the pier to show documents, etc, the lines were done in alphabetical order. I will print all of  our check-in documents , but, my husband and I have different last names... so can we check in together , or...?

Thanks for any information!

Basically you are allocated a group number based on when you arrive or check in. You will be given a card with your group number on it. I can’t remember whether you get them when you actually arrive or when you check in at Venice, but basically, the earlier you arrive the sooner you get on.

When boarding starts they usually start with people in suites, then people with status, and those who booked through Casinos at Sea. I think disabled also board early. Then they call the allocated groups.

As nobody is rushing for Vibe passes etc on the Star it shouldn’t be too bad getting on.

There will be no problem with the different names.
